Throughout his career, Mr. Tate has developed relationships with key centrists in Congress, such as the New Democratic Coalition and the Blue Dogs, and was recently named by “The Hill” as one of the leading Democratic lobbyists in Washington.

Mr. Tate served for three years as Special Assistant to the President for Legislative Affairs in the Clinton Administration, where he was a key member of the White House team responsible for developing and implementing the Clinton Administration’s legislative agenda in Congress.  In that capacity, he served as a principal intermediary between the White House and Congress on trade, environment, telecommunications, energy, transportation and financial services legislation.  Mr. Tate was also the President’s liaison to Democratic and Republican moderates in Congress, particularly the New Democrats and the Blue Dogs.

Prior to his work at the While House, Mr. Tate served for two years as Deputy Assistant Secretary of Energy, where he was a chief strategist and advocate for the Secretary of Energy and the Department with the U.S. House of Representatives.  There, he developed and implemented the Agency’s legislative agenda on electricity policy, environmental remediation, and national security priorities.

During that time, he helped craft landmark energy and telecommunications legislation.  On Rep. Tauzin’s personal staff, Mr. Tate was responsible for developing and implementing the Congressman’s legislative agenda and was the Congressman’s point person with the Energy & Commerce Committee and House Democratic Leadership.

Since leaving the White House in 1998, Mr. Tate has used his high-level government experience and legislative expertise to successfully represent a diverse group of Fortune 500 companies and major policy coalitions on matters before the Legislative and Executive Branches of government.
