Eric D. Thu joined Capitol Solutions® as Senior Policy Advisor, Energy and Environment, in October 2009. Mr. Thu’s legislative experience and his graduate work are valued additions to the firm’s Energy and Environment practice.
Prior to joining Capitol Solutions, Mr. Thu served over three years as a member of the Senate Environment and Public Works (EPW) Committee majority staff under Chairman Jim Jeffords (I-VT) and then Chairwoman Barbara Boxer (D-CA). Mr. Thu played a key role in the development of S. 2191, America’s Climate Security Act of 2007. He represented EPW at several United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change meetings and was responsible for monitoring the progress of key international climate negotiations.
Prior to joining the EPW staff, Mr. Thu worked for Senator Joe Lieberman (I-CT) on his energy and environment team.
Mr. Thu received a Bachelor of Arts from Stanford University and Masters degrees in Environmental Management and Public Policy from Duke University. Before completing his graduate work, Mr. Thu served as an intern for the Environmental Defense Fund and the Senate Democratic Steering Committee.
Mr. Thu grew up in Tucson, Arizona. He lives with his wife in downtown Washington, DC.
